I bet if you reflected on your life, you can come up with a handful of life challenges (big and small) that you’ve overcome. There can be many reasons as to how you perservered through them, but regardless, you came out stronger, wiser, and in one piece. Good for you! I hope you are proud of yourself. It is inevitable that we will encounter more life challenges as we age; it’s just a matter of perservering through them that makes the difference versus getting stuck in them. It’s always hard when you find yourself not in a harmonious place in your life for whatever reason. It’s easy to give into it and be angry, confused, and reactive. Lately I’ve found some parts of my life not as peaceful as I’d like them to be. Some aspects are in my control, while others are not. After being tired of the energy it sucked out of me, my latest coping mechanism is recalling past life challenges I have overcome. Usually they are bigger than the current one I am facing. When I reflect on how hard it was then, and the hopelessness I felt, but the hope I did inevitably find that saved me, it gives me strength and hope for my current life challenge. I am reminded that if I went through [insert past life challenge] and survived, I am going to survive this one (in a matter of time).
Have you tried this approach before? What approaches do you use to perservere through life’s challenges?
