I have about 8 more weeks to go until our baby arrives. There is much to still do baby-, house-, work-related in addition to maintaining our personal-, social-, faith-, and marriage-life. Needless to say, I don’t have time to sit back and watch the clock tick away! I have no idea how it’ll all get done, and I’ve submitted to the fact that it won’t, but at least I’ll try! The surprising discovery during this hectic time is how calm and at peace I feel. When the baby kicks, I take a moment to chuckle and be present. When I have a success at work, I take a moment to reflect on the difference I am making in someone’s life. When Daniel is helpful with chores and meal preparations, I take a moment to thank him and appreciate his efforts. When friends and family are thoughtful and generous, I take a moment to remind myself how blessed we are to be surrounded by loving people. When I meet a deadline at work, I take a moment to pat myself on the back for my productivity and efficiency given my pregnant state. As I write this, maybe me being present and thankful during different parts of my day helps maintain my calmness and peace during this time. And/or maybe I am taking life moment by moment and doing the best I can and honoring my body and mind when they tell me to slow down or stop. All I know is, this period I am in feels so good and I hope by sharing it with you that you are able to find ways to feel calm and at peace even when the world around you seems stormy. Stormy doesn’t have to be a negative thing, it can simply mean there are endless things to do that are calling your attention.
