I know this blog title is one that can result in a “duh” response, but I titled it anyway as such! In the last several months, I have come to this realization that I am so blessed to be surrounded by loving, generous, and supportive people. In other words, “good people.” The sad truth is, I think I must have taken this blessing for granted in the past. Because I am a friendly, outgoing person, it is natural for me to collect new friends and call upon them when need be. If I want to be social, I’d have a get together and it’d be filled with laughter and deep conversation. Or when I need encouragement, I would call, text, or email my close friends and they’d be available to hear me vent and provide me encouragement. This is the norm for me and I don’t share all this to boast, but more so with the intention of focusing on the fact that this truly is a blessing… to have good people surround me. People do not have to be good people. It is a choice. They can choose to be thoughtless, selfish, self-centered, mean, etc. There’s no reward for being a good person (at least not on Earth). People may notice and thank you, but the fulfillment comes from within, if you even choose to give yourself that acknowledgment. More often than not, I focus on the not-so-good people in life and their ill ways and thoughts. However, it dawned on me that yes there are “bad” people out there, but equally or more, there are also good people out there. Phew! And so in this post I give thanks to all of them in my life! You are truly a blessing to me, Daniel, and baby.
