To all you ladies out there- I hope you had a special Mother’s Day! It’s true what they say, when you become a mother, you realize what your own mother did for you. So, this led me to be thoughtful with cards this year and hand select ones that fit the three mother figures I have in my life. Their positive receptions of the cards were more than I had anticipated since cards never meant much to me. I always thought they were a waste of money and prefer someone hand make me one. But then the tables turned and I received a card from Daniel on behalf of him and Zane. The message on the card and their handwritten messages meant a lot to me. Now, I’ve received cards with beautiful messages, but something about being a first time mom and being affirmed for my efforts and work had significant meaning to me. I thought I’d never be this type, but I actually subscribed to the holiday! I received a massage, had 3 meals cooked by Daniel, and got to play in our flower/ vegetable bed. I really soaked in the meaning of the holiday and also honored my mother figures more. I realized that not all man-made holidays are corny and that in an interesting way, it’s necessary for man to recognize particular people during the year, even if it’s one time. Of course we shouldn’t need a holiday to remember to love or recognize people in our lives, but in this case, I believe it’s so necessary. This leads me to close with this YouTube video my friend sent me called The Invisible Woman. It definitely encouraged me and I hope it encourages you to thank your mother and/or wife that is the mother to your child(ren). And if you’re a mother yourself, pat yourself on the back!! Per the video, you are building a cathedral!
