look into someone’s eyes

Since having Zane, I always have a chuckle out loud and to myself when people compliment me on how nice I look and dress. I thank them for the compliment, but tell them always that it’s a facade because really I find an easy, non-iron type outfit to put on that looks “fancy” and I was lucky to shower the night before and my hair happens to look alright when I slept on it. I’m sure not everyone believes me, but truly, it took me a total of 30 minutes to get ready from the night prior combined with the current day’s effort. (This is not a brag moment, but more so to paint the picture.) Anyways, it reminded me of the following quote that encourages us to look beyond what we see and seek more from the other person. My point is, from the outside I may look put together, but do not overlook that I may be falling to pieces inside because I had a rough night or that my week was trying as I adapt to this new world of motherhood. I’m struggling just as much as you are! (Not saying this is the case, but you just never know!)

“I’m entirely interested in people, and also other creatures and beings, but especially in people, and I tend to read them by emotional field more than anything. So I have a special interest in what they’re thinking and who they are and who’s hiding behind those eyes and how did he get there, and what’s the story, really?” – Alice Walker
