Zane turned 1 on November 15th! I hope to write my reflections on my past year of being a mother. I will call it an “annual life review.” It will take me longer than normal to write out what I’ve learned, so in the interim, I thought I’d ask you if you take the time to do the same. Meaning, once a year has passed of being a particular age, entering a new romantic relationship or friendship, another year of marriage, another year of life in general, etc., do you take time to ask yourself reflective questions? Some examples include: How have I grown?; What impact did I make in another person’s life?; What parts of me “died” so that I could become a better person?; Did I experience new sights, sounds, taste, and/or feelings?; and What new things did I learn about myself? I believe taking the time to reflect on the year that passed in a certain (or all) area(s) of your life will provide you appreciation, gratitude, and confidence for the next year ahead.
What other questions do you ask yourself when doing an annual life review? If you’ve done an annual life review before, how’d it go?
