putting your growth on hold

“I know I need to change that, but I’m going to wait until…” How many times have you said that? And what specifically do you say that about? For me right now, there’s a lot of personal growth opportunities I put on hold thinking there’s a better time to do it that’s more convenient for me. Here’s my list, and in sharing them with you, may encourage you to think about your list and start growing!

1. Beer/wine consumption. I need to cut down to a few drinks a week. Although I love a cold, tasty sip daily, it keeps me up at night and is just adding empty calories to my body. Also, it is expensive! Personal growth: health, self-control.

2. My knowledge of the Bible and relationship with God. When am I ever going to learn that He is the beginning and the end, and the only Source I need?! Personal growth: finding worth and fulfillment in the One that meets every need and want I have.

3. Patience, compassion, and grace towards others, namely my husband and child.

Gosh, I can continue on, but won’t. I just need to be proactive and actually make SMART goals to get to where I want to be. Do you struggle with this as well- knowing you have to grow in a certain area, but don’t want to put the effort in just yet? Let’s encourage one another!

Google scripture about keeping the body healthy.. this blog below had some good scripture to read as to the importance of not to delay in honoring God because he is inside us.. .. the blog below discusses the book of Haggai.. about how we try to fill ourselves with abundance without honoring God. Your blog is a good reminder! Know that my prayer for you is calling on the Holy Spirit and the power of the Eucharist to replace your thirst for alcohol..

Reaksmey, I think it’s helpful that you stopped at three areas for personal growth this time. It can be overwhelming to work on too many things at once. Maybe it would be helpful to write a post about making S.M.A.R.T. goals if you haven’t already and link this post to it! :)
